Courses

The Postgraduate Program is structured into two (2) semesters with the completion of a master’s thesis during the summer period. In the first semester, four (4) compulsory theoretical courses and one (1) clinical practice are taught. In the second semester, four (4) compulsory theoretical courses and one (1) clinical practice are taught. During the summer period, the master’s thesis is completed.

The clinical laboratory practice in both semesters takes place in one of the following institutions (Government Gazette 142/B/1986):

A) Vascular Surgery Clinic of A.U.Th.

B) Vascular Surgery Departments of the Surgical Clinics of A.U.Th.

C) Corresponding Clinics or Departments of other Medical Schools and Hospitals domestically or abroad. In this case, a written consent from the Director of the respective institution where the clinical practice will take place and the approval of the request by the Department Assembly upon a positive recommendation from the Coordinating Committee is required.

 

First Semester (5 compulsory core courses – Total 30 ECTS)

  2. Emergency Venous Diseases (6 ECTS)
  3. Emergency Aortic Diseases (6 ECTS)
  4. Emergency Visceral Vascular Diseases (6 ECTS)
  5. Clinical Practice I (6 ECTS)

 

Second Semester (5 compulsory courses – Total 30 ECTS)
  1. Acute Ischemia of the Lower Limbs (6 ECTS)
  2. Acute Ischemia of the Upper Limbs and Cervical Vessels (6 ECTS)
  3. Vascular Trauma (6 ECTS)
  4. Medical Informatics and Scientific Writing (6 ECTS)
  5. Clinical Practice II (6 ECTS)

 

Summer Period (Total 15 ECTS)
  1. Master’s Thesis (15 ECTS)
